The Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel Gets Mixed Reviews The Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel, more properly called the Chattanooga Choo Choo Holiday Inn, is a great historic landmark in the scenic city.When it comes to staying at the famous train station, however, the reviews are often mixed.
Many folks seem to love the charm of the old building and the old style fixtures. However, some overlook the charm and say the Choo Choo needs updating. The main train station lobby, built in 1908, has been magnificently restored. It is a marvelous piece of historic architecture. But if you want to truly experience the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel's allurement, you must stay in one of their refurbished Victorian style train cars.
The cars are more suited for a romantic getaway than for accommodations for a large family as the space is not adequate for several people as all train cars come with a queen size bed, and some have an additional day bed with a pull out trundle bed. But, you and your sweetie should certainly enjoy the old world glamour of sleeping in a train car! Be advised, though, that your cell phone probably will not transmit due to the train cars' metal construction. But, they all do have DSL internet connections and a land line.
The Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel has three hotel buildings with a number of rooms. Each carries a wireless internet connection, voice mail, and the all important coffee maker. As with most hotels, you can get a smoking or non-smoking room and your choice of a king size bed or two double beds. Many reviewers prefer to stay in a train car while at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Holiday Inn simply because the standard hotel rooms, they say, are nothing special really.

There are 8 restaurants, cafes, and lounges aboard the Chattanooga Choo Choo Holiday Inn property. You can enjoy an espresso, latte, or cappuccino almost any time of the day at the Café Espresso. They also serve muffins, pastries, sandwiches, and deserts. For a romantic dinner in a dining train car that overlooks the Chattanooga Choo Choo's formal gardens, you should choose have "Dinner in the Diner". A reservation is suggested so that you can enjoy a specially prepared diner from the onboard chef. It is perfect for an intimate evening, but is open on Friday and Saturday nights only, so plan ahead. The Gardens Restaurant is a full service restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Dress casually as you enjoy a hearty breakfast buffet or a great lunch or dinner with a southern flair. Saturday nights you can enjoy a Prime Rib Buffet. No reservations are necessary, so just drop in. On the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel grounds there is also an ice cream parlor the kids are sure to love and you can enjoy a fast food meal at the Silver Diner. At The Station House restaurant, you can enjoy steaks, ribs, and seafood with live entertainment and the famous "Singing Servers". There are several shops on the property including an arcade, gift shops that offer a variety of gifts from Victorian home accessories and civil war era artifacts to all types of Chattanooga souvenirs. There is a model railroad museum and an old time portrait shop for a memorable, antique style personal souvenir. The Choo Choo grounds are full of delightful gardens that you'll love to explore and enjoy. There are two outdoor swimming pools, one of which is a unique oriental style pool with a massive waterfall overlooked by every room in building three. This pool area also has a hot tub for your relaxation needs. There is an indoor pool in building one that boasts a delightful waterfall and tropical setting you are sure to enjoy. For a little more nostalgia on the rails you can hop aboard the 1920's style trolley for a unique ride around the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel grounds.
The Chattanooga Choo Choo Holiday Inn offers complementary downtown shuttle service for guests.
