Chattanooga Riverbend: A Big Festival in a Small Community

by Georgia Cracker
(Ringgold, Georgia)

I've been attending the Riverbend Festival for a number of years.

During blistering sun, humid southern afternoons that could be cut with a knife, 5 minute thunder boomers, and beautiful sunset river bank breezes to make you realize, no where else but here in Chattanooga, on the river.

This year for some reason, with the help of my friend Michelob, I came to realize the best scenario is having a super early evening band on the TVA stage with the top liner on the Coke stage.

Getting yourself planted somewhere in between so that you turn your chair one way and when time for the other band, just swing that chair around for the other.

I hope the producers of Riverbend recognize this valuable point, because it is an extremely enjoyable time to have such good music, one right after the other.

The first enlightening moment was Nothing and the Nobodies followed by Train. Excellence is putting it mildly.

The next profound experience would be Thursday night with Camp Normal followed by the B-52's. The rocking just wouldn't stop.

But what really made the case was Friday night with Krystye Dalton Band followed by Montgomery Gentry.

The Krystye Dalton Band just blew me away and Montgomery Gentry put a whole new meaning to pizazz.

Some of this may sound corny, but that's just how appreciative us southerners get when we are faced with great entertainment.

Tonight is Little Richard with the early show consisting of the Rivercity Hustlers. Can't wait to see how that goes.

Riverbend 2009 hasn't disappointed me yet!
