The Chattanooga Times Free Press is the primary daily Chattanooga Newspaper. But it has definitely changed over the years. When I was a kid, I remember Chattanooga having two competitive papers, the Chattanooga Times and the Chattanooga News Free Press. These eventually combined in the 1990's into one paper. This paper today is one of Tennessee's major newspapers. What makes this paper unique among U.S. newspapers is that it features two editorial pages. One leans to the liberal side politically, while the other leans conservative. I think that's a pretty good attempt at being fair and balanced, at least with regard to the opinions that it shares outside of the news staff. You can find more information on this newspaper, advertise in, and even subscribe, if you like, at TimesFreePress.com. On their website you can access things such as the latest news (local, state, national, and international), local obituaries, editorial cartoons, politics, business news, health news, web exclusive stories, and "green" or environmental news. You can also check out the local Volkswagen news in the wake of the recent (2008) announcement that Volkswagen will be opening their new plant at the Enterprise South complex that was once the site of the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant. The Times Free Press also has a good sports section where you can check out college, high school, and prep sports, as well as local favorites like golf and a good sports calendar. The paper both on and offline has an entertainment section, a section on blogs, and a vast photo gallery. So, whether you're moving to the Scenic City or just planning a Chattanooga vacation, you'll likely turn to the Chattanooga Times Free Press for comprehensive news in print.
