Chattanoogan Shannon Castleberry publishes first book.
by Shannon Castleberry
Chattanooga, TN, August 5, 2010 — Local resident, Shannon Castleberry, East Ridge Tennessee, has just had his book of poems “55: a collection of poems” published. Here's what the author says about the book: Being the youngest of six children, I learned early to try and stand out. I would make cards for my mother on special occasions. I wrote the last verse of the poem I was to read at my high school graduation the first day of my 9th grade year. I always loved words and how they could bring about emotions. I have written poems for lovers, family, and friends. When my mother passed away in 1999 writing my poems about the absolute devastation I was experiencing helped me stay sane. It is a way that I can convey more than just an “I love you.” It allows me to put emotions down on paper and bring about the feelings that I am trying to express. I hope all that read these poems come away with the feelings I was experiencing when I wrote them. Shannon lives in East Ridge Tennessee and is a nurse at a local assisted living community. He grew up in Trenton Georgia and attended Northwest Georgia High School. He lives with his cat and a roommate in East Ridge. This is Shannon’s first published works. It expresses so much emotions that others can connect with in their own lives. The book is in honor of his mother who passed away 11 years ago.
