A Historic Journey

In February of 2009, the famous Delta Queen Steamboat came chuggin' up the Tennessee River and into Chattanooga.

The famous queen of the waterways will be docked just off Coolidge Park in the Scenic City where she will now provide yet another awesome experience for Chattanoogans and visitors alike as Chattanooga's new floating hotel.

Delta Queen: How Long Will She Stay?

Chattanooga is privilaged to host the queen while her owner fights for a federal government waiver to allow overnight excursions to begin again. New fire regulations keep wooden vessels from carrying overnight guests on the river.

Harry Phillips, owner of the Chattanooga Water Taxi, has been quoted as saying that the Delta Queen steamboat may stay in Chattanooga for one to two years. This of coarse will depend on the owner's progress in negotiations with the federal government.

However long we are graced with the queen's precence, I'm sure Chattanooga will greatly benefit as many throngs of visitors will seek to stay in the 174 guest floating hotel...and hey, what a vantage point for the Riverbend Festival huh?
