Gite Holiday Accommodation in the Loire Valley

The Loire Valley is one of France's most visited area's.

Our gites are situated in the national park set up to preserve this unique area. Our accommodation is idealy placed in the heart of the ancient dukedom of Anjou.

Much of the history of France,(and England), has been enacted within this region.

Joan of Arc first met the Dauphin in nearbye Chinon, whilst Richard the Lionheart is buried 15 minutes away at Fontenvraud.

As the former playground of the Kings of France the region has a unique concentration of Chateaux, ranging from the medieval fortress at Angers to the King Renne's love palace at Saumur. The chateaux at Usse was the inspiration for the fairy tale, "The Sleeping Beauty", while Brissac is the tallest chateau in the Loire.

The region is one of gentle slopes covered in vines making some of the most well known wine in France. The scenery is not dramatic but, like the people, gentle, welcoming and pleasant.

This part of the Loire is littered with small villages where the pace of life is much as it has ever been. The French have a word for the lifestyle here, they call it, "Le Douceur Angevine", literally, "The Sweetness of life in Anjou".

As a base, our gite accommodation is ideal being halfway between the bustling cities of Angers and Tours and within easy travelling distance of almost all the, "must-see", sites of the Loire.

Our gites are in the quiet, pretty wine village of Le Puy Notre Dame where the main occupations are still as they have ever been: wine and mushrooms, both using the 140 Klms. of cave under the village.

Our comprehensive website contains loads of information on the Loire region plus photo galleries of the superb gite accommodation we have created in our special corner of, "La Belle France".
