Wouldn't you love to hike near Chattanooga Tennessee?

You can hike near Chattanooga Tennessee because there are so many great places to do so. We don't call it the scenic city for nothing you know.

Hiking On Signal Mountain

Signal Mountain is just a few minutes from downtown Chattanooga and has an abundance of hiking trails.

  • The Cumberland Trail from Signal Point

Signal Point is on a beautiful cliff overlooking the Tennessee River Gorge at the south end of Signal Mountain.

A section of the Cumberland Trail begins there and leads to Rainbow Lake. There are white blazes on trees and rocks that mark the 1.2 mile section of trail.

This descending trail is comprised of a series of stairs and steep paths that lead to the lake. The trail passes Rainbow Falls, which has a hazardous trail leading to it.

  • The Cumberland Trail from Rainbow Lake

This 6.1 mile section of the trail is for serious walkers. It has a couple of steep climbs that can really be taxing.

  • Green Gorge Park

Green Gorge Park is a small park that has about 2 miles of trails and a stream running through it. It can be hard to find, but worth the search.

One of my favorite places to hike near Chattanooga is Cloudland Canyon State Park. I have never been to the Grand Canyon, but I am certain that this local wonder gives it a run in the beauty category.

The trails are steep and rough in many places but the beautiful vistas are worth every grueling step.

Two waterfalls can be found at the base of the canyon or you can hike the 4.8 mile West Rim Trail and witness some spectacular views as well.

The park has ample parking, picnic and camping areas, and even tennis courts, playgrounds, and Disc Golf.
