Honeymoon and Grandkids at Rock City Gardens

In 1971 as a young bride, I visited Chattanooga with the love of my life on our honeymoon. As a New Orleans native, I'd hardly ever seen a rock much less a hill or mountain.
As we approached Chattanooga and began to see the "See Rock City" signs, I could hardly believe I was really going to visit Rock City. We were not disappointed. Such a fascinating place couldn't be captured in photos or bumper stickers.
Unfortunately, I lost our camera/bag/film at Ruby Falls and therefore, lost most of our honeymoon photos, but a few survived my carelessness (and Hurricane Katrina too) and are cherished.
Now, all of these years later, I'm left as a widow with 3 beautiful little grandchildren who also have hardly ever seen a rock, and never a hill or mountain. This weekend I visited the Chattanooga area with four generations: my Mom, grandkids, and son/daughter-in-law.
I re-lived the happiness and wonderment I had experienced so long ago at Rock City. My 4-year old grandson asked if we could take some of the big rocks home for their garden. My 7-year old granddaughter said that was the best place she's ever been and wondered if a princess had ever lived in Rock City.
Thanks for a beautiful and peaceful experience that we will remember for years to come. And this time I held on to my camera.
