JENKINS & SHALLOWFORD ROADS ROUND-A-BOUT

by Robert Hardy
(Harrison, TN)

My child attends Grace Baptist Academy. I understand a round-a-bout has been approved for the intersection of Jenkins and Shallowford roads.

I feel this would adversely affect the flow of traffic from our school during the dismissal time.

If you have not traveled that area between 3:15pm and 4:00pm during our dismissal time, perhaps you should take the time to do so and see the highly congested flow now-WITH THE AID OF THE TRAFFIC LIGHT INTERRUPTING THE FLOW PERIODICALLY WHICH CURRENTLY HELPS FLOW.

With the addition of the round-a-bout there would be no such interruption to help with the flow. I also understand it has been approved to widen Shallowford road form Gunbarrel to Jenkins.

Would not the round-a-bout be in essence, throwing good money after bad? If the round-a-bout is built and then the road widened, would it not then have to be changed to incorporate the extra lanes?

I sincerely think someone dropped the ball on this. Round-a-bouts are not designed to facilitate the flow of multi-lane traffic---TRAFFIC LIGHTS ARE.

Please keep the current light in place so we have a SAFER traffic flow to contend with.
Thank you for your time and efforts in this matter.
