Chattanooga Amusement Parks:
Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park

While the Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park is not actually in Chattanooga or even Tennessee for that matter, you just have to travel across the state line in Rossville, Georgia to get there! So a visit to Chattanooga would not be complete without at least one full day at Lake Winnie.

Lake Winnepesaukah is celebrating her 80th birthday this year (2005), so they have added 4 new rides and attractions! The new rides include the Wave Swinger (a thrill ride) and The Bumble Bees (for the kids), among others.

Thrilling Rides

I grew up in the Chattanooga area and always looked forward to visiting Lake Winnie (as we affectionately call it).

I never rode The Cannonball (one of the nation’s finest wooden roller coasters) until I turned 12 years old. Once I did, however, I was hooked! I rode The Cannonball roller coaster 13 times that first day and many times since!

The Boat Chute was also a favorite with its dark and creaky tunnel before the tall hill that led to the fast plunge into Lake Winnie itself, getting everyone on board a good soaking! Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park has added many new thrilling rides since the old days. In fact, almost each season brings a new ride or a new twist to the family excitement!

Family Attractions

I say family attractions rather than rides simply because Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park offers more than just great rides!

Although I love to drive the Antique Cars with my family and the kids love to ride the Carousel (built in 1916)...I also have enjoyed a round of miniature golf at the Lake Winnie park.

If music suits your fancy, Lake Winnepesaukah also hosts many concerts throughout the year at Jukebox Junction in the park. In 2006 they hosted such guests as Aaron Tippin, Lee Greenwood, and Confederate Railroad (among others).

See LakeWinnie.com for complete concert schedules.

Kiddie Rides

Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park packs loads of fun for the tiny tots in your life as well.

Kids will love the new Bumble Bees ride as they ride on the back of a giant bumble bee.

Then they can move over to the Frog Hopper as they rise, wiggle, and drop aboard this insanely fun ride.

Lake Winnie also lets your kids fly through the sky while saddled up on their very own Jumbo Elephants ride!

These are just a small sample of the exciting rides the "kiddies" will enjoy at the Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park!

Good Food

It would be so wrong of me to forget to mention the carnival style food that is served at the various concession booths and eateries at Lake Winnie!

I fondly remember the sweet smell of funnel cakes and the tempting aroma of fresh corn dogs. But, they don't just smell good! Oh, the taste, the taste of a fresh carnival style corn dog, hot dog, or cotton candy that you just watched them make!

A Family Favorite for Years

The locals have enjoyed Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park for 80 years.

Stop by and check it out. You'll love it and your kids will love it too!
