Why Is The Mayor's Mansion Chattanooga Bed and Breakfast Listed as a Select Registry Inn?

How is the Mayor's Mansion Chattanooga Bed and Breakfast Inn? Well it is obviosly good enough to be listed as a Select Registry Inn of impecable quality, but what do we think?

My wife and I stayed there for our 14th anniversary this year and found out...
The Mayor's Mansion Inn is a beautiful post Civil War home built after Sherman's infamous and flamable March to the Sea!

Reservations at the Inn

I called the inn two or three weeks ahead of time to reserve our room. At that time, if we elected to stay during the week (Sunday through Thursday), a great discount was offered.

We could choose between their best available room for $125 per night, their best available suite for $150 per night, or the inn's best available deluxe suite for $175 per night.

We originally chose the best available suite for $150 per night and we went with the Cumberland Suite. But, we were fortunate enough to get an unexpected upgrade to the best available deluxe suite which was the Rising Fawn Suite! Wow! What a room! More about that later, but first let me mention that I called back "on the sly" and asked them to have chocolate dipped strawberries waiting in the room for us for a small fee to add that little romantic touch. Kelly, the Innkeeper I spoke with, said that would be no problem and asked if I would also like them to have a nice bottle of wine or Champaigne waiting as well, but I declined as we are non-drinkers, but appreciated his offer of extras.

Checking in at the Mayor's Mansion Inn

Check in is normally between the hours of 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm, but I called ahead and let them know that I was running late from work so I wanted to make sure everything would be ready when we got there. As I expected, Kelly told me that he already had our strawberries curing and everything would be ready when we arrived.

The Mayor's Mansion Inn is listed as one of the Select Registry Inns and for good reason.

We checked in sometime after 5pm at the front desk and were asked if we would be paying with the same card that we reserved with and the transaction was quick and virtually painless.

Then Kelly asked if we would like to take a quick tour of the Mayor's Mansion before he showed us our suite and, of course, we accepted.

The library at this Chattanooga Bed and Breakfast Inn is both beautiful and relaxing.

The Ladies' Parlor at the inn was the place the 19th century ladies would relax after dinner while the men

He explained the history of the Mayors Mansion as he presented to us the library where the men used to "hang out" after a dinner meal, the ladies parlor where the ladies would go after dinner to "get away from the men", the grand entrance foyer, and the "Tiffany Dining Room" where we would eat breakfast each morning at the Mayor's Mansion Inn.

Our Deluxe Suite at This Exquisite Chattanooga Bed and Breakfast Inn

As I mentioned, we stayed in the Rising Fawn Suite, the room that used to be the Mayor's bedroom while he lived there.

This Chattanooga Bed and Breakfast Select Registry Inn's suite used to be the Mayor of Chattanooga's bedroom!

The suite has 16 foot ceilings, a king size bed, and a beautiful bathroom with a large French shower and a 250 gallon soaking tub which made it perfect for our anniversary getaway!

Did I mention the complementary "turn down" service? Yeah, they will actually turn down your bed covers and place gourmet chocolates on your pillows! How cool is that?!?!

You can't see them in this photo, but the complementary turn down service actually affords you gourmet chocolates on your pillows!

Breakfast at the Mayor's Mansion Chattanooga Bed and Breakfast Inn

When we first checked in and our second evening there, the staff asked us what time we would like to have breakfast the next morning. Since they serve breakfast from 8:00am until 9:30am, we decided to eat at 9:30 of course! :)

I must admit that I was a little worried about eating a 3 course "gourmet breakfast" since I'm just a "country boy" raised on mama and daddy's country cookin', but I soon discovered that I had nothing to worry about...

The Tiffany Dining Room at the inn was a comfortable, yet elegant place to enjoy the 3 course gourmet breakfast served.

On Thursday morning the menu began with an appetizer of fruit kebobs with lemon honey yogurt dressing. Yum!

Then came the main entree which was Mansion Scramble with roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and smooked gouda cheese. Ham slices with citrus glaze which was absolutely "divine" was also on the plate along with sweet and Idaho hash potatoes, toast with jam and butter.

My wife could not believe that we still had to have desert after all of that, but the rice pudding with chocolate shavings and raspberry sauce was just too good to pass up.

The Friday morning menu included a cantaloupe wedge with confetti fruit and orange yogurt dressing to start.

Next came the entree which was a pecan waffle with apple cranberry compote with hot maple syrup and bacon strips. Now that's southern!

Then guess what...yep dessert again! Dessert that morning at the Mayor's Mansion was a black and white pudding cup with dark chocolate pudding and cheesecake pudding with shaved dark chocolate...Wow!

Farewell But Not Goodbye to The Mayor's Mansion Select Registry Inn

Alas, our wonderful escape had to finally come to an end, but as I told the owner on our first morning there, we want to go back and stay in each of the 11 rooms and suites at the Mayors Mansion Inn! It is truly one of the finest of the Chattanooga bed and breakfast inns...fine enough in fact to be listed as one of the Select Registry Inns (most distinguished inns of North America)!

When you book your stay, please be sure to mention that you learned of the Mayor's Mansion Inn from Chattanooga-Charm.com.
