Remembering September 11, 2001 - Another Day That Will Live In Infamy

Chattanooga-Charm.com is remembering September 11, 2001 with the rest of our great nation and many around the world today.

I personally remember being at work and hearing that a "small plane" had apparently hit the World Trade Center in New York City. I remember thinking, "Man, that's really strange."

Then as the second plane hit the towers, we all new that this was something more...something much bigger than "just an accident".

I remember rushing to the break room to watch the horrible images of the devistation, the burning towers, and those poor people flinging themselves from the towers, presumably to get away from the hellish heat of the burning building.

I remember the "hole" I felt in the pit of my stomach and in my heart for our nation as I heard of the third plane striking the Pentagon.

I remember the mixed sense of tragedy, mourning, and yet patriotism and pride as I learned of the fate of United Flight 93 and the heros who sacrificed their own lives to save the lives of others.

I remember the prayers myself and others sent up on behalf of those grieving loved one's lost, on behalf of our nation and her leaders, on behalf of our soldiers and emergency workers, and on behalf of all of us.

I remember the stirring in my soul to "do something" as I applied for several federal jobs with agencies like the Federal Air Marshall Program, the CIA, and the Secret Service.

I remember the joy I felt when I received a "Conditional Offer of Employment" from the Central Intelligence Agency and the pain I felt when I had to refuse that offer due to a back injury late in 2001.

I remember the sacrifices of all of those who have given themselves, and many, their lives, in the service to our country in these perilous times since that fatefull day in September.

In short, I remember 911. I remember September 11, 2001 and the days and times since...

And I must still resoundingly say, "We will not forget!" and "God bless America!"

And with that, I leave you with a few great audio/video presentations to help you remember Spetember 11, 2001...
