This is certainly one of the most popular tourist attractions in the scenic city!

This unique Chattanooga attraction has been around longer than I can remember.

I recall seeing all of the barns on childhood road trips throughout the south that call upon travelers to "see" the famous Chattanooga landmark.

And although I grew up and still live in the Chattanooga area, it wasn't until early adulthood that I actually went to see the world famous city among the rocks of Lookout Mountain.

A Rocky Childhood

Photo of Lover's Leap at Rock City in Chattanooga, Tennessee - photo courtesy of Hu Longmire of RubyFalls.com As a child, growing up near the foot of Lookout Mountain, I loved exploring various rock formations and caves in and on the mountain.

My best childhood friend and I used to go exploring a lot on the mountain. We actually didn't realize how dangerously we were living at the time, but we really were. Someone must have really been looking out for us.

Anyway, each time that I visit Rock City Gardens atop Lookout Mountain, I can't help but reminisce those rock climbing, exploratory days of my childhood. I also can't help but realize how much safer it is to pay and explore these rock formations than to risk my life doing it on my own, without any safety equipment.

The Wonder of Rocks and Lights

I also have been privileged enough to experience the Enchanted Garden of Lights that is displayed at the famous city in the rocks each Christmas season.

You talk about holiday beauty...Let me tell you that you will not be disappointed with the Enchanted Garden of Lights!

It is comparable and, in my opinion, far superior to Pigeon Forge's and Gatlinburg's Winter Fest light displays!

You won't regret a night time visit to see Rock City in Chattanooga during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season.
