Table 2 - A Dreadful Dining Experience
by Michael Collins
My wife, four friends, and I decided to try Table 2 Saturday night for a Valentine’s Day dinner. First round of drinks were slow, understandably with the crowd, but the regular bartender was struggling along with help from a woman who we later find out is “a little girl”. About 20 minutes later one of our party goes to get another round waiting over ten minutes but the bartender tells him that we needed to just order from our seats because he was too busy (less than 3 people at bar). Once seated, drinks take ten more minutes after ordering and the bar runs out of martini glasses. We try to order two of the signature rock appetizers but they had already run out of those (prior to 8:00 PM). We speak the Manager but she clearly does not care in the least. Later for the dinner, two of us request the recommended wine pairing with the meal but waiter forgets the wine and later comes by to say he figured we didn’t want the wine since we were still working on the martinis. Desert comes with a nice 8-inch long hair stuck to the plate under the cheesecake. I call the waiter over to take the desert (and hair) and ask him to take it off the bill. When the checks arrive, nothing had been removed and orders were not distributed properly. We call the Manager again. When explaining the rest of the evening she coughs and rolls here eyes at my wife and I. The cook comes out and says “don’t yell at her, she’s just a little girl”. I ask who is the Manager here? They are argue about that for over a minute then ask us to leave. While walking out, the cook grabs my arm twice trying to provoke an incident. The second time I told him we needed to call the police and several more cooks and dishwashers appear. On the way out the door, one tells my wife “don’t come back now, Lassie”. Lassie? Maybe they nickname all the customers dog names in the kitchen because you get service in this restaurant not fit for a dog. This was the worst dining experience I can remember. Table 2 is simply an impostor in the fine dining arena...high prices but nothing else. They are an embarrassment to the Chattanooga line of restaurants. |
