It's easy for the Chattanooga explorer's dreams to come true in and around the Scenic City, because there is just so much to see and do!
God has been good to the Tennessee Valley, as it is often referred to, giving us beautiful mountains with a vast combination of both deciduous and evergreen trees. Our mountains also have plenty of exposed rock for rope climbing, rappelling and even challenging free climbing alike!
The area also boasts loads of natural caves to explore, waterfalls to adore, and a watershed system that is second to none in my opinion. We have streams, creeks, babbling brooks, rivers, ponds, and lakes! In fact the only real water feature that you can't find within about an hours' drive of Chattanooga, Tennessee is an ocean!Even the most discriminant of Chattanooga explorers will find something they love to do in our naturally beautiful area. There's plenty of fishing, water skiing, hang gliding, sky diving, canoing, sculling, fossil hunting (I've actually found some good ones atop Lookout Mountain as a kid).
Within an hours' drive is some of the best whitewater rafting around on the Ocoee River! In fact the 1996 Olympic whitewater course is still there and you can shoot those challenging rapids just northeast of Chattanooga!
Depending on where you live or stay while you are in Chattanooga, you may even be fortunate enough to have a view like this from your yard, like I do!So, enjoy Chattanooga! It's not just the man-made attractions that are great. The God-made ones are even more breath taking! Read about other Chattanooga adventurers as they submit their stories below!
