The Chattanooga Government Wins Aagain
by: Anonymous

I had no idea about the camera tickets. I was shocked to receive one on Broad Street, near the Wendys.

I will not come to Chattanooga to shop as I usually do. I can go to other towns that want the business of people.

I would like to know the statistics associated with the new cameras.

I guess the tax payer is going to pay for whatever the government needs no matter how they get it.

I think its a sad sign of the times that things have come to this point.

Where can I find out where are cameras are located?

I don't try to speed, but want to be more aware of driving.

Good Points of View on Traffic Responsibilities
by: Chris

I think both this editorial writer and the person who posted the "wwwwaaaaaaa" comment are right to a point.

If indeed the public was not properly notified, then they should have been.

However, if the public was notified via tv and radio as Mr. "wwwwaaaaaaa" indicated, then personal responsibility should kick in and lead the alleged offender to restrain himself or herself in order to keep the speed limit, etc.

One further note is that although most of us are probably guilty of speeding at least some of the time, the alleged offender, as well as the rest of us, should be obeying traffic laws anyway...

I doubt that any one of us can say that we didn't know that speeding was against the law.

The fact that you have no idea that cameras were placed in the city after it is broadcast on radio and news papers is no surprise since you are not even aware of the accidents that are often seen by drivers who regularly drive these roads. I believe these programs are effective, I have seen the numbers of the accidents in these areas decrease, because like you (and me) when you get one and have to pay out $50.00 you get mad but you can only get mad at yourself because you are the one to do it and that memory will stick you every time you go buy there. Just like the one in Red Bank does me. (I avoid Red Bank all together now). You can make excuses all you want about how you are not aware of what is going on around you but that just proves the point you did "get the message". I like the cameras except when I have to pay a ticket. Such is life.
